On November 17th, at the construction site D17, workers from State Grid Hunan Power Transmission and Transformation Engineering Company are performing the final operation of stringing and hanging lines for the last three towers. The project adopts mechanized construction throughout the process, and it is about to be put into operation.
As a key construction project for peak load and winter demand in Hunan, the supporting line project of the Yiyang East 500kV Substation utilizes high-conductivity aluminum stranded wires with a steel core, significantly enhancing the transmission capacity. Ning Wen, the construction project manager at State Grid Hunan Power Transmission and Transformation Company, stated, “Considering the hilly terrain characteristics in Hunan, we have employed our independently developed electric construction drilling machine and lifting crane. From foundation laying to tower assembly, the construction cycle for each tower is reduced by approximately 7 days on average, resulting in an efficiency improvement of over 50%. This ensures the smooth completion of the project before the high-demand period for electricity in winter.”
It is reported that, after the completion and operation of this project, it will effectively enhance the structure of the 500 kv main grid in Hunan power grid. This will create favorable conditions for supplying power from the Huarong Power Plant to the Xiangdong Dual-ring Network, improving power supply capacity and providing strong support for the reliable power supply in Hunan during the winter of this year.
As of now, State Grid Hunan Electric Power Company Ltd. has completed and put into operation 16 out of the 47 key projects for peak load and winter demand. The remaining 31 projects are scheduled to be completed and put into operation before December 30th. After the completion and operation of all 47 projects, the total length of new transmission lines will be 563 kilometers, and the substation capacity will increase by 4.73 million kilovolt-amperes. This will further optimize the structure of the main power grid in Hunan, holding significant importance for enhancing power supply capacity and reliability in areas such as Changsha, Xiangtan, and Yongzhou.
